David's story is one of the most well-known from the Bible. He was a young shepherd boy who defeated a bear and a lion defending his father's sheep. He defeated Goliath with a sling and a smooth stone. He became King of Judah and Israel. He was responsible for writing most of the Psalms (and sung them as he played his lyre!). His faithfulness allowed him to fulfill his most important purpose, being an ancestor of Jesus Christ!
